Winter Won't Let Go

Weather Updates

We reached the low 60's last Friday and Saturday.  Before that, the last time we saw 60 degrees was November 11, 2007.

Several days ago, northern parts of Minnesota received in excess of 30 inches of snow as a large system brought over two days of heavy snowfall.

Again this week, another storm system is on track to hit the Midwest starting around Thursday.  Exact amounts at this time are unknown since the track of the storm has yet to be defined, but it sounds like it could be enough to shovel or plow.

Winter Storm Watches have been posted from Colorado to Nebraska and South Dakota, to the far western counties of Minnesota.

Winter is quite ready to let go yet.  Watch for local weather updates as this storm takes aim at the upper Midwest.

Cold Continues

Weather Updates

Again, this week's overnight lows will plunge into the single digit and teens below zero.  About 30% of the nights so far in February have been below zero, while we have only had one day where the high didn't reach above zero.

If there is any consolation, we're less than a month away from Spring which is set to arrive at 5:48 AM on Thursday, March 20.  The mean temperature in March 2007 was 38 degrees.  We even saw one day where the temperature reached 82 degrees (March 26).

Now that is something to look forward too.  We could also wind up on the other side of the coin like the Spring of March 2002 where the mean temperature was a chilly 28 degrees.
